Sister Vivian Bullwinkel and sixty five Australian nurses were sunk aboard the HMAS vyner brook evacuating Singapore 1944. The ships lifeboats were straffed by Japanese planes. Twenty one nurses swam ashore to a nearby Island, These were captured by Japanese and fired on with machine guns. Vivian was the only survivor of the Bangka Massacre 澳新军团 澳大利亚 健康 维维安 Bullwinkel
ANZAC Day is a multinational commemoration of fallen soldiers. Originally to honour members of the Australian & New Zealand Armed Corps killed at Gallipoli. The event now includes all Australians lost in conflict. Pictured is a 'squatter' or gentleman military settler who selected colonial land as payment for service. Aboriginal losses, particularly from introduced disease and starvation, outnumber those of the settlers by ten to one. Aboriginal leader Yagan was implicated in the attack and shot the following year by bounty hunters. A statue in memory of Yagan was erected on Herrison island 原住民 澳新军团 澳大利亚 澳新军团的黎明
